Multimodal Mediators to the World as it is Currently Designed

چکیده
Information technology should be accessible to all users. Above all disabled persons in a public environment depend on such accessibility to today’s information technology (e.g. cash dispensers, ticket selling machines, etc.). In this article we show how multimodality can be used to provide universal accessibility to public kiosk systems making assistive technology applicable in the public space. We introduce a system based on the generic EMBASSI infrastructure by means of which terminal systems can communicate with personalized mobile devices over an amodal information layer. Those mobile devices provide the user with adapted multimodal means of interaction. We illustrate different device examples, specially adjusted to the needs of visually impaired and paraplegic users, which have been realized. The results of a psychological evaluation of the approach will be presented.

Multi-commodity Multimodal Splittable Logistics Hub Location Problem with Stochastic Demands
This study presents a multimodal hub location problem which has the capability to split commodities by limited-capacity hubs and transportation systems, based on the assumption that demands are stochastic for multi-commodity network flows. In the real world cases, demands are random over the planning horizon and those which are partially fulfilled, are lost. Thus, the present study handles dema...
متن کاملA Decision Support System for Urban Journey Planning in Multimodal Public Transit Network
The goal of this paper is to develop a Decision Support System (DSS) as a journey planner in complex and large multimodal urban network called Rahyar. Rahyar attempts to identify the most desirable itinerary among all feasible alternatives. The desirability of an itinerary is measured by a disutility function, which is defined as a weighted sum of some criteria. The weight...
متن کاملSOLVING BEST PATH PROBLEM ON MULTIMODAL TRANSPORTATION NETWORKS WITH FUZZY COSTS
Numerous algorithms have been proposed to solve the shortest-pathproblem; many of them consider a single-mode network and crispcosts. Other attempts have addressed the problem of fuzzy costs ina single-mode network, the so-called fuzzy shortest-path problem(FSPP). The main contribution of the present work is to solve theoptimum path problem in a multimodal transportation network, inwhich the co...
متن کاملCapacitated Multimodal Structure of a Green Supply Chain Network Considering Multiple Objectives
In this paper, a supply chain network design problem is explained which contains environmental concerns in arcs and nodes of network. It is assumed that there are some routes such as road, rail and etc. in each pair of nodes. In this model decision variables are choosing facilities to open, environmental investment level in each facility and flow of products between nodes in each route. A multi...
متن کاملProtein Databases
Proteins are sources of many peptides with diverse biological activity. Some of them are considered as valuable components of foods and drug targets with desired and designed biological activity. We are now entering an era rich in biological data in which the field of bioinformatics is poised to exploit this information in increasingly powerful ways. There are currently many databases all over ...
